Rabbi Brian Bileci

As a Messianic [Sicilian] Jewish Rabbi [simchatyeshua.com] at a Messianic Synagogue, & Executive Pastor at [DestinyChurch.tv], I embrace the Torah, Jewish Feasts, customs of my forefathers & the Messiah of Israel. I teach Hebrew for beginning levels and love teaching the Hebraic roots of our faith.

Rabbi Brian Bileci
Have you ever thought about what it means to be like Yeshua? What would it be like to be one of His followers and walk in His footsteps? After 2000 years of reading the New Testament, especially the Gospels, we can study His life and influence and answer the questions about how to become one of His chosen followers and devoted disciples.

When we desire to know our Creator intimately, we discover why we were born and, more importantly, understand our purpose in life. We want to know who we are and who God created us to become. Ultimate fulfillment and significance are the search for every soul and heart’s desire. The One who made us knows us from the inside out wants us to know Him in the same way. We will discover how much we are loved and are essential to God and His plan for the world through this journey of faith. Only when we become fully-devoted disciples of Yeshua can we fully grasp His love for us and share it with others. The question is, how do we BECOME A DISCIPLE?

Yeshua hand-selected 12 men to disciple and travel with Him as He trained them to fulfill “THE GREAT COMMISSION.” We see a model of His mission when we study the leadership of Moses, who selected 12 men from the 12 tribes of Israel to survey “The Promised Land.” Yeshua desired His disciples to do the same by possessing all God’s promises, as they FOLLOWED in His footsteps.

8 And Yeshua came up to them and spoke to them, saying, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, immersing [“baptizing”] them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Ruach HaKodesh [“Holy Spirit”], 20 teaching them to observe all I have commanded you. And remember! I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” - Matthew 28:18-20 (TLV)

Along the Sea of Galilee, He promised fishermen that He would make them “fishers of men,” teaching us that disciples are not born, they are intentionally made.” These twelve followers were fully trained and ready to disciple the nations in just three and a half years. Only when we model His lifestyle can we learn how to leverage our influence to become “DISCIPLE-MAKERS,” like Him.

So how did Yeshua communicate His message and mission? As we read through the four Gospels, His parables become the number one approach to His teaching style. The training style of this first-century rabbi attracted followers who had eyes ready to see, ears that were open to hear, and hearts that desired to understand His calling and mission.

BECOMING A DISCIPLE is an interactive way of fully immersing believers into the life, character, and mission of Yeshua for 12 weeks. We will collectively dissect and discuss one or more of the parables that Yeshua taught in each lesson as we learn how to BECOME HIS DISCIPLE.

DISCIPLE: a follower and student of a mentor, teacher, or wise leader;
                                              a disciplined one.

• Hebrew: talmid תַּלְמִיד - from the Hebrew root “lamad” לָמַד, meaning “to learn;” a student

• Greek: mathetes μαθητής - learner, pupil, disciple; from the Greek verb “manthano” μανθάνω - to learn or increase in one’s knowledge, including applying its principles.

• Latin: discipulus - from the verb “discere” meaning to be a learner or a “disciplined one”; Discipline can be defined as training,
that corrects, molds, or perfects the mental faculties or moral character of a disciple.

First references to the word “disciple”:

OLD TESTAMENT FOUNDATION:

“Bind up the testimony, seal the Law [The Torah] among my disciples.”
- Isaiah 8:16 (NKJV)

NEW TESTAMENT REVELATION:

“A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master.”
- Matthew 10:24 (NKJV)

“

A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone who is perfectly trained will be like his teacher.” - Luke 6:40 (NKJV)

Disciples could not choose themselves, but were rather hand-selected by a master teacher, who had the skills to take the student to the next level, to become a qualified leader. The disciple would learn to lead in the schoolhouse, just like he was expected to lead in his own house, so that he could lead in his congregation and his community.

Could a dusty road of a first-century rabbi restore an ancient path of discipleship? Jewish writings from Israel’s wisest teachers describe this journey with the imagery of dust coming up from the ground, which was the dust sprinkled on the disciples of a rabbi from the sandals of his feet.

As we learn how to follow the Messiah the way they did, with the same intimacy and intentionality, we will naturally become dusty from the dust of His feet and become thirsty from the words of His mouth.

“Let your house be a house of meeting for the sages [Torah scholars], become dusty yourself with the very DUST of their feet, and drink in their words with thirst.” ~ Yose ben Yoezer; Mishnah 1:4; Pirke Avot - “Ethics of the Fathers”

1 Peter 1:16 since the Tanakh says, “You are to be HOLY because I am HOLY”…18 You should be aware that the ransom paid to free you from the worthless way of life which your fathers passed on to you did not consist of anything perishable like silver or gold; 19 on the contrary, it was the costly bloody sacrificial death of the Messiah, as of a lamb without defect or SPOT. CJB

Leviticus 16:2...Tell Aaron your brother not to come at just any time into the Holiest Place behind the curtain—before the ATONEMENT COVER which is on the Ark—so that he would not die. ...30 For on this DAY ATONEMENT will be made for you...TLV

C. ALLOW ATONEMENT TO RELEASE INTO FORGIVENESS
Leviticus 4:20...the kohen [“priest”] shall make ATONEMENT for them—and they will be FORGIVEN. TLV

2. EVERYONE NEEDS FORGIVENESS

THEME VERSE: 1 Peter 1:14 As people who obey God, do not let yourselves be shaped by the evil desires you used to have when you were still ignorant. 15 On the contrary, following the Holy One who called you, become HOLY yourselves in your entire way of life; 16 since the Tanakh says, “You are to be HOLY because I am HOLY” [Leviticus 19:2]…18 You should be aware that the ransom paid to free you from the worthless way of life which your fathers passed on to you did not consist of anything perishable like silver or gold; 19 on the contrary, it was the costly bloody sacrificial death of the Messiah, as of a lamb without defect or SPOT. PREPARING FOR THE MEAL OF MESSIAH:
1. CELEBRATING PASSOVER PREPARES US AS A BRIDE FOR MESSIAH
Deuteronomy 16:1 Observe the month of Aviv and keep the Passover to Adonai your God, for in the month of Aviv Adonai your God brought you out from Egypt by night. 2 You are to sacrifice the Passover offering to Adonai your God...TLV

Revelation 19:7 “Let us rejoice and be glad! Let us give him the glory! For the time has come for the wedding of the Lamb, and his BRIDE has PREPARED herself — 8 fine linen, bright and clean has been given her to wear.” (“Fine linen” means the righteous deeds of God’s people.) 9 The angel said to me, “Write: ‘How blessed are those who have been invited to the wedding feast of the Lamb!’” Then he added, “These are God’s very words.” 10 I fell at his feet to worship him; but he said, “Don’t do that! I’m only a fellow-servant with you and your brothers who have the testimony of Yeshua. Worship God! For the testimony of Yeshua is the Spirit of PROPHECY.” CJB

Ephesians 5:25 Husbands, love your wives just as Messiah also loved His community and gave Himself up for her 26 to make her holy, having cleansed her by immersion in the word. 27 Messiah did this so that He might present to Himself His glorious community —not having stain or wrinkle or any such thing, but in order that she might be holy and blameless [VOICE: “...as His radiant bride, unstained, unwrinkled, and unblemished—completely free from all impurity—holy and innocent before Him”]. TLV

2. THE MESSAGE OF PASSOVER REVEALS THE PROPHECIES MESSIAH MUST FULFILL
Luke 24:25 Yeshua said to them, “Oh foolish ones, so slow of heart to put your trust in all that the prophets spoke! 26 Was it not necessary for Messiah to suffer these things and to enter into His glory?” 27 Then beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, He explained to them the things written about Himself in all the Scriptures…44 Then He said to them, “These are My words which I spoke to you while I was still with you—everything written concerning Me in the Torah of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be FULFILLED.

Revelation 22:1 And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb...6 Then he said to me, “These words are faithful and true.” And the Lord God of the holy prophets sent His angel to show His servants the things which must shortly take place. 7 “Behold, I am coming quickly! Blessed is he who keeps the words of the PROPHECY of this book.” TLV

3. THE FULFILLMENT OF PASSOVER REMINDS US TO BE READY FOR MESSIAH’S RETURN
Revelation 22:16 “I, Yeshua, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the Messianic communities. I am the Root and Offspring of David, the bright Morning Star. 17 The Spirit and the Bride say, ‘Come!’ Let anyone who hears say, ‘Come!’ And let anyone who is thirsty come — let anyone who wishes, take the water of life free of charge.” 18 I warn everyone hearing the words of the PROPHECY in this book that if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues written in this book. 19 And if anyone takes anything away from the words in the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share in the Tree of Life and the holy city, as described in this book. 20 “The one who is testifying to these things says, ‘Yes, I am coming soon!’” Amen! Come, Lord Yeshua! 21 May the grace of the Lord Yeshua be with all! CJB

KEFA ALEF / 1 Peter 1:14 As people who obey God, do not let yourselves be shaped by the evil desires you used to have when you were still ignorant. 15 On the contrary, following the Holy One who called you, become HOLY yourselves in your entire way of life; 16 since the Tanakh says, “You are to be HOLY because I am HOLY”…18 You should be aware that the ransom paid to free you from the worthless way of life which your fathers passed on to you did not consist of anything perishable like silver or gold; 19 on the contrary, it was the costly bloody sacrificial death of the Messiah, as of a lamb without defect or SPOT. THE SIGNIFICANCE OF PASSOVER:
1. THE PASSOVER WAS GOD’S PLAN
BERESHIT / Genesis 22:7 Then Isaac said to Abraham his father, “My father?” Then he said, “Here I am, my son.” He said, “Look. Here’s the fire and the wood. But where’s the LAMB for a burnt offering?” 8 Abraham said, “God will provide for Himself a LAMB for a burnt offering, my son.” The two of them walked on together. TLV

TEHILLIM / Psalm 33:10 Adonai foils the PURPOSE of the nations. He thwarts the PLANS of the peoples. 11 The PLAN of Adonai stands forever, the PURPOSE of His heart from generation to generation. 12 Blessed is the nation whose God is Adonai, the people He chose for His own inheritance. TLV

YIRMEYAHU / Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the PLANS that I have in mind for you,” declares Adonai, “PLANS for shalom and not calamity—to give you a FUTURE and a HOPE. TLV

YESHAYAHU / Isaiah 53:4 He suffered and endured great pain for us, but we thought his suffering was punishment from God. 5 He was wounded and crushed because of our sins; by taking our punishment, he made us completely well [“healed”]...7 He was painfully abused, but he did not complain. He was silent like a lamb being led to the butcher, as quiet as a sheep having its wool cut off…10 The Lord decided His servant would suffer as a sacrifice to take away the sin and guilt of others.
Now the servant will live to see his own descendants. He did everything the Lord had PLANNED. 11 By suffering, the servant will learn the true meaning of obeying the Lord. Although he is innocent, he will take the punishment for the sins of others, so that many of them will no longer be guilty. CEV

YOCHANAN / John 1:29 The next day, John sees Yeshua coming to him and says, “Behold, the LAMB of God who takes away the sin of the world!...35 Again the next day, John was standing with two of his disciples 36 and watched Yeshua walking by. He said, “Behold, the Lamb of God!” 37 The two disciples heard him say this, and they followed Yeshua. TLV

2. THE PASSOVER WAS MESSIAH’S PASSION
LUKAS / Luke 22:1 Now the Feast of Matzah, which is called PASSOVER, was approaching…7 Then came the day of matzah when the PASSOVER lamb had to be sacrificed. 8 Now Yeshua sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and prepare the PASSOVER for us, so we may eat”...15 And He said to them, “I have eagerly desired to eat this PASSOVER with you before I suffer. 16 For I tell you, I will never eat it again until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.” TLV

LUKAS / Luke 22:15 Then he told them, “I have longed with PASSION and desire to eat this Passover lamb with you before I endure my sufferings. 16 I promise you that the next time we eat this, we will be together in the FEAST of God’s kingdom.” TPT

3. THE PASSOVER RESTORES OUR PURPOSE
SH’MOT / Exodus 13:3 And Moses said to the people: “Remember this day in which you went out of Egypt, out of the house of bondage; for by strength of hand the Lord brought you out of this place...14 There will come a time when your children ask you, “What is this thing we are doing?” You will say, “With a strong hand the Eternal led us out of Egypt and freed us from lives of slavery. VOICE

CORINTIM ALEF / 1 Corinthians 1:7 Get rid of the old yeast so that you may be a new batch of dough, since you are to be free from yeast. For the Messiah, our Passover, has been sacrificed. 8 So let’s keep celebrating the festival, neither with old yeast nor with yeast that is evil and wicked, but with yeast-free bread that is both sincere and true. MAKING ROOM FOR THE MESSIAH TO COME:
1. THE TORAH MAKES PREPARATION FOR HIS COMING
Leviticus 12:1 Then Adonai spoke to Moses saying: 2 “Speak to Bnei-Yisrael, instructing: If a woman conceives and bears a male child, then she will be unclean for seven days, as in the days of her niddah she will be unclean. 3 In the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin is to be circumcised…” TLV

Luke 1:30 The angel spoke to her, “Do not be afraid, Miriam, for you have found favor with God. 31 Behold, you will become pregnant and give birth to a son, and you shall call His name Yeshua. 32 He will be great and will be called Ben-Elyon. Adonai Elohim will give Him the throne of David, His father. 33 He shall reign over the house of Jacob for all eternity, and His kingdom will be without end.” TLV

Luke 2:21 When eight days had passed for His brit-milah, He was named Yeshua, the name given by the angel before He was conceived in the womb. 22 And when the days of their purification were fulfilled, according to the Torah of Moses, they brought Him to Jerusalem to present to Adonai. 23 As it is written in the Torah of Adonai, “Every firstborn male that opens the womb shall be called holy to Adonai.” 24 So they offered a sacrifice according to what was said in the Torah of Adonai: “a pair of turtle doves, or two young pigeons.” TLV

Luke 2:25 Now there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon...27 So in the Ruach, Simeon came into the Temple; and when the parents brought the Child Yeshua to do for Him according to the custom of the Torah, 28 Simeon received Him into his arms and offered a bracha to God, saying, 29 “Now may You let Your servant go in peace, O Sovereign Master, according to Your word. 30 For my eyes have seen Your salvation, 31 which You have prepared in the presence of all peoples: 32 ‘A LIGHT for revelation to the NATIONS’ and the glory of Your people Israel.” TLV

Isaiah 42:1 Behold My servant, whom I uphold. My Chosen One, in whom My soul delights. I have put My Ruach on Him, He will bring justice to the nations…6 “I, Adonai, called You in righteousness, I will take hold of Your hand, I will keep You and give You as a covenant to the people, as a LIGHT to the NATIONS’, 7 by opening blind eyes, bringing prisoners out of the dungeon, and those sitting in darkness out of the prison house. TLV

Isaiah 49:5 So now says Adonai, who formed Me from the womb to be His servant, to bring Jacob back to Him, to gather Israel back to Him. For I am honored in the eyes of Adonai and My God has become my strength. 6...You should be My servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob and RESTORE the preserved ones of Israel. So I will give You as a light for the nations, that You should be My salvation to the end of the earth”...TLV

2 Corinthians 6:16 What agreement does God’s Temple have with idols? For we are the temple of the living God—just as God said, “I will DWELL in them and WALK among them; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. 17 Therefore, come out from among them, and be SEPARATE [“SET APART”], says Adonai. Touch no unclean thing. Then I will take you in. 18 I will be a father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters, says Adonai-Tzva’ot.” TLV

Leviticus 26:11 I will make My DWELLING among you, and My soul will not reject nor SEPARATE itself from you. 12 I will WALK among you and be your God, and you shall be My people. AMP

SH’MOT / Exodus 25:8 “Have them make a Sanctuary for Me, so that I may DWELL among them. TLV

LESSONS FOR EXPERIENCING HASHEM’S MANIFEST PRESENCE:
1. MAKE PREPARATION FOR HIS DIVINE MANIFESTATION
VAYIKRA / Leviticus 9:1 Now it happened on the eighth day that Moses called Aaron, his sons, and the elders of Israel. 2 Then he said to Aaron, “Take a calf from the herd for a sin offering, and a ram for a burnt offering, both without blemish, and offer them before Adonai. 3 You are to speak to Bnei-Yisrael, saying: Take a male goat for a sin offering, along with a calf and a lamb, both yearlings without blemish, for a burnt offering, 4 plus a bull and a ram for fellowship offerings, to sacrifice before Adonai, along with a grain offering mixed with oil. For today Adonai APPEARS to you.” 5 So they brought what Moses commanded before the Tent of Meeting, and the entire congregation DREW NEAR and stood before Adonai. TLV

Leviticus 9:6 Moses said, “You have done what the Lord commanded, so you will see the Lord’s GLORY [HIS MANIFEST PRESENCE]”...23 Moses and Aaron went into the Meeting Tent. Then they came out and blessed the people, and the Lord’s GLORY [HIS MANIFEST PRESENCE] came to all the people. 24 FIRE came out from the Lord... EXB

Exodus 24:9 Then Moses, Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel went up [the mountainside], 10 and they saw [a MANIFESTATION of] the God of Israel...16 The GLORY and brilliance of the Lord rested on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it for six days...AMP

Exodus 19:14 After Moses went down from the mountain to the people, he made them PREPARE themselves for service to God [consecrate / sanctify themselves], and they washed their clothes...22 Even the priests, who may ·come near [approach] me, must first PREPARE [consecrate; sanctify] themselves... EXB

Exodus 15:2 The Lord is my strength and song, and He has become my salvation; He is my God, and I will PREPARE Him a HABITATION; my father’s God, and I will exalt Him. KJ21

2. MAKE A SEPARATION FROM ANY TYPE OF CONTAMINATION
Leviticus 11:43 You are not to CONTAMINATE yourselves with any creeping thing that crawls nor make yourselves unclean with them or DEFILED by them...45... you shall be holy, for I am holy. TLV

Leviticus 15:31“So you are to keep Bnei-Yisrael SEPARATE from their uncleanness...TLV

3. MAKE YOUR HEART A HOLY HABITATION THROUGH THE HOLY SPIRIT’S PURIFICATION
VAYIKRA / Leviticus 16:14 He is to take some of the bull’s blood and SPRINKLE it with his finger on the ark-cover toward the east; and in front of the ark-cover...

1 Peter 1:1 Peter, an emissary of Messiah Yeshua, to the sojourners of the Diaspora in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia—chosen 2 according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, SET APART by the Ruach for OBEDIENCE and for SPRINKLING with the blood of Yeshua the Messiah: May grace and shalom be multiplied to you…16 For it is written, “Kedoshim you shall be, for I am kadosh [“Be holy, for I am holy”].” 17 If you call on Him as Father—the One who judges impartially according to each one’s deeds—then live out the time of sojourning in reverent fear. 18 You know that you were REDEEMED from the futile way of life handed down from your ancestors—not with perishable things such as silver or gold, 19 but with precious blood like that of a lamb without defect or spot, the blood of Messiah. 20 He was chosen before the foundation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake. 21 Through Him you are believers in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your trust and hope are in God. 22 Now that you have PURIFIED your souls in OBEDIENCE to the truth, leading to sincere brotherly love, love one another fervently from a PURE heart. 23 You have been BORN AGAIN—not from perishable seed but imperishable—through the living and enduring word of God. TLV

Exodus 15:13 You in Your lovingkindness led the people You have REDEEMED. You guided them in Your strength to Your HOLY HABITATION. TLV

James 4:8 DRAW NEAR to God and He will DRAW NEAR to you. CLEANSE your hands, you sinners; and PURIFY your hearts, you DOUBLE-MINDED…10 HUMBLE yourselves in the sight of Adonai, and He shall lift you up. TLV

2 Corinthians 6:16 What agreement can there be between the Temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God — as God said, “I will house myself in them, and I will walk among you. I will be their God, and they will be my people.” 17 Therefore Adonai says, “‘Go out from their midst; separate yourselves; don’t even touch what is unclean. Then I myself will receive you. 18 In fact, I will be your Father, and you will be my sons and daughters.’ says Adonai-Tzva’ot.” CJB

VAYIKRA / Leviticus 6:1(8) Adonai said to Moshe, 2 (9) “Give this order to Aharon and his sons: ‘This is the law for the burnt offering: it is what goes up on its firewood upon the altar all night long, until morning; in this way the fire of the altar will be kept burning. 3 (10) When the fire has consumed the burnt offering on the altar, the cohen, having put on his linen garment and covered himself with his linen shorts, is to remove the ashes and put them beside the altar. 4 (11) Then he is to remove those garments and put on others, before carrying the ashes outside the camp to a clean place. 5 (12) In this way, the fire on the altar will be kept burning and not be allowed to go out. Each morning, the cohen is to kindle wood on it, arrange the burnt offering and make the fat of the peace offerings go up in smoke. 6 (13) Fire is to be kept burning on the altar continually; it is not to go out. CJB

Enter into any Torah-centered Jewish home in this period prior to the festival of Pesach (Passover) and you will see a house in bedlam and disarray. Every member of the household is busy cleaning rearranging and overturning everything in the house in preparation for the awesome festival that is approaching. All this is in the fulfillment of the verses “No leaven shall be eaten . . . For seven days you shall eat unleavened bread . . . and no leaven shall be seen of yours [in your possession]” (Exodus 13:3–7).

THE LESSONS FOR BECOMING A LIVING SACRIFICE:
1. WITHOUT COMPASSION WE ARE FILLING OURSELVES UP WITH CONDEMNATION

2. WE MUST SUBMIT TO HASHEM’S PRESENCE AND BECOME A LIVING SACRIFICE

CORINTIM ALEF / 1 Corinthians 5:7 Get rid of the old chametz, so that you can be a new batch of dough, because in reality you are unleavened. For our Pesach lamb, the Messiah, has been sacrificed. CJB

RONIM / Romans 12:1 I exhort you, therefore, brothers, in view of God’s mercies, to offer yourselves as a sacrifice, living and set apart for God. This will please him; it is the logical “Temple worship” for you. 2 In other words, do not let yourselves be conformed to the standards of the ‘olam hazeh. Instead, keep letting yourselves be transformed by the renewing of your minds; so that you will know what God wants and will agree that what he wants is good, satisfying and able to succeed. TLV

3. WHEN WE SURRENDER, OUR JOY INCREASES, THUS INCREASING OUR CAPACITY FOR MORE OF HASHEM

When we allow HaShem in, we will finally get out of our own heads. We will have no problems, no pain, and no suffering to focus on. When you think about yourself, there is no room for joy or anyone else, as your problems take over your every thought. However, if you could find a way to focus on others, you will feel joy, a taste of the Moshiach. Meaning the messianic era. HaShem wants to visit with us. Let’s lay down all these things upon the altar and make room for Him!

ARTSCROLL SIDDUR - Offerings: From the beginning of its existence as a nation, whether or not it understood why or how, the sacrificial service brought it a closeness to God and the manifestation of His PRESENCE. The offerings represented the Jew’s SUBMISSION to God of his “self” and his resources.

THE LESSONS FOR DRAWING CLOSE:
1. DRAWING CLOSE BEGINS WITH HUMBLE SUBMISSION AND TOTAL SURRENDER FROM THE HEART
Lev. 1:1 Now Adonai called to Moses and spoke to him out of the Tent of Meeting, saying: 2 “Speak to Bnei-Yisrael, and tell them: When anyone of you brings an offering to Adonai [כִּי־יַקְרִיב מִכֶּם קָרְבָּן Ki-yakriv mikem korban - if Adam (mankind) “DRAWS CLOSE” with a “DRAW CLOSE THING”], you may present your offering of livestock, from the herd or from the flock. TLV

2 Chron. 30:8...SUBMIT YOURSELVES to the Lord. Come to His Temple, which He has set apart as holy forever. WORSHIP the Lord your God...NLT

James”) 4:7 Therefore SUBMIT to God. But RESIST the devil and he will flee from you. 8 DRAW NEAR to God and He will DRAW NEAR to you. CLEANSE your hands, you sinners; and PURIFY your hearts, you DOUBLE-MINDED…10 HUMBLE yourselves in the sight of Adonai, and He shall lift you up. TLV
• SUBMIT to God so you can Resist the Devil
• DRAW NEAR to God so that He will Draw Near to You
• CLEANSE your Hands from Habitual Sin
• PURIFY your Hearts so that you can Reject Double-Mindedness
• HUMBLE yourselves to be lifted up or ascend into His Presence

Ps. 24:3(4) Who may go up [or “ascend”] on the mountain of Adonai [“Temple Mount”]? Who may stand in His holy place? 4(5) One with CLEAN HANDS and a PURE HEART, who has not lifted his soul in vain, nor sworn deceitfully...6(7) Such is the generation seeking Him, seeking Your FACE [panim - “PRESENCE”], even Jacob! Selah TLV

Ps. 51:2 Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and CLEANSE me from my sin. 4 For I acknowledge my transgressions, and my sin is always before me…9 CLEANSE me with hyssop and I will be CLEAN. Wash me, and I will be whiter than snow…12 Create in me a CLEAN HEART, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. 13 Do not cast me from Your PRESENCE—take not Your Ruach HaKodesh [“Holy Spirit”] from me…18 For You would not delight in SACRIFICE, or I would give it, nor be pleased by BURNT OFFERINGS. 19 The SACRIFICES of God are a broken spirit. A broken and a contrite heart, O God, You will not despise…21 Then You will delight in righteous SACRIFICES and whole burnt offerings. Then bulls will be offered on Your altar. TLV

Hebrews 10:22 So let us DRAW NEAR with a TRUE HEART in full assurance of faith, with HEARTS sprinkled CLEAN from an evil conscience and body WASHED with PURE WATER. TLV

2. DRAWING CLOSE REQUIRE US TO WALK HUMBLY BEFORE OUR GOD AND BRING HIM A GIFT OF LOVE
Lev. 26:11 I will make My DWELLING among you, and My soul will not reject nor SEPARATE itself from you. 12 I will WALK among you and be your God, and you shall be My people. AMPC

Genesis 3:8 They heard the voice of Adonai, God, WALKING in the garden ...so the man [ADAM] and his wife hid themselves from the PRESENCE of Adonai...TLV

Micah 6:7 Will Adonai be pleased with thousands of rams...8 He has told you, HUMANITY [ADAM], what is good, and what Adonai is seeking from you: Only to practice justice, to love mercy, and to WALK HUMBLY with your God. TLV

Prov. 21:3 To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to Adonai than SACRIFICE... TLV

Hosea 6:6 For I delight in loyalty [chesed: “mercy” or “loving-kindness”] and not SACRIFICE, knowledge of God more than BURNT OFFERINGS. 7 But like ADAM, they transgressed a covenant... AMPC

Isaiah 58:2 ...They ask Me for righteous judgments; they delight in the NEARNESS of God.” TLV

Deut.16:16 ...No one should appear before Adonai EMPTY-HANDED— 17 the GIFT of each man’s hand according to the blessing Adonai your God has given you. TLV

3. DRAWING CLOSE ELIMINATES DOUBLE-MINDEDNESS SO WE CAN LAY OUR LIVES AS A LIVING SACRIFICE

GILL’S EXPOSITION: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares: as Abraham, Genesis 18:1, he knew them not to be angels at first; they appeared as men, and he treated them as such; but they were angels, yea, one of them was Lord himself; and hereby he received many favours, Genesis 18:10, and Lot, Genesis 19:1 who knew not that they were angels he took into his house; but they were, and he was delivered by them from the burning of Sodom.

MESSIANIC JEWS / Hebrews 13:3 Remember the prisoners as if you were fellow prisoners, and those who are mistreated as if you also were suffering bodily. 4 Let marriage be held in honor among all and the marriage bed kept undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers. 5 Keep your lifestyle free from the love of money, and be content with what you have. For God Himself has said, “I will never leave you or forsake you.” TLV

Deuteronomy 31:1 Then Moses went and spoke these words to all Israel…6 Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.” NKJV

Hebrews 13:6 so that with confidence we say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What will man do to me?” 7 Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith. 8 Yeshua the Messiah is the same yesterday, today, and forever. 9 Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings, for it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace—not by foods that have not benefited those occupied by them. 10 We have an ALTAR from which those serving in the Tabernacle have no right to eat. 11 For the bodies of those animals—whose blood is brought into the Holies by the kohen gadol as an offering for sin—are burned outside the camp. 12 Therefore, to make the people holy through His own blood, Yeshua also suffered outside the gate. 13 So let us go to Him outside the camp, bearing His disgrace. 14 For here we have no lasting city, but we seek the one that is to come. 15 Through Yeshua then, let us continually offer up to God a SACRIFICE of praise—the fruit of lips giving thanks to His name. TLV

VAYIKRA / Leviticus 7:11 ‘This is the law of the SACRIFICE OF PEACE offerings which he shall offer to the Lord: 12 If he offers it for a THANKSGIVING, then he shall offer, with the SACRIFICE OF THANKSGIVING, unleavened cakes mixed with oil, unleavened wafers anointed with oil, or cakes of blended flour mixed with oil. NKJV

HOSHEA / Hosea 14:1 Come back [Return] to the Lord and say these words to him [take words with you]: “Take away all our sin and kindly receive us [accept our prayers], and we will keep the promises we made to you [so that we may offer the SACRIFICES of our lips; or so that we may offer our lips as sacrificial bulls]. NKJV

Hebrews 13:16 Do not neglect doing good and sharing, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased. 17 Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they keep watch over your souls as ones who must give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no benefit to you. TLV

Romans 12:1 I urge you therefore, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a LIVING SACRIFICE —holy, acceptable to God—which is your SPIRITUAL SERVICE. 2 Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the RENEWING OF YOUR MIND, so that you may discern what is the will of God—what is good and acceptable and perfect. TLV

1 Peter 2:4 As you come to Him, a living stone rejected by men but chosen by God and precious, 5 you also, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house—a holy priesthood to offer up SPIRITUAL SACRIFICES ACCEPTABLE to God through Messiah Yeshua. TLV

Hebrews 13:18 Pray for us, for we are convinced that we have a clear conscience, desiring to conduct ourselves honorably in all things. 19 I especially urge you to do this, so that I may be restored to you sooner. 20 Now may the God of shalom, who brought up from the dead the great Shepherd of the sheep by the blood of an everlasting covenant, our Lord Yeshua, 21 make you complete in every good thing to do His will, accomplishing in us what is pleasing in His sight, through Messiah Yeshua. To Him be the glory forever and ever. Amen. 22 But I urge you, brothers and sisters, listen patiently to this word of exhortation, for in fact I have written to you in few words. 23 Know that our brother Timothy has been released. If he comes soon, I will visit you with him. 24 Greet all your leaders and all the kedoshim—those from Italy greet you. 25 Grace be with you all. TLV
